Yasmin selling part of her designer wardrobe on Vestiaire Collective

Over her 30+ years of modeling, Yasmin has amassed a well-curated collection of designer and vintage garments that reflect her eclectic tastes and eye for detail.  She has selected 27 cherished, memory-laden pieces to sell on leading luxury resale online store Vestiaire Collective starting on July 19th as part of their Archive Series.

The items include a vintage Emilio Pucci shirt and leggings that she bought in the 1980’s, a number of Azzedine Alaïa pieces (including two shirts, a leather jacket, a two-piece top and skirt, and a dress that was given to her by Mr. Alaïa himself) that served as her uniform back in the 80’s and early 90’s, two Chanel dresses (including a gold sequined dress she wore to meet the Queen), a high-necked Giorgio Armani dress that she wore to the 2006 Elle Style Awards to accept an award on behalf of Karl Lagerfeld, a Stéphane Rolland couture gown that she wore to the Harper’s Bazaar Woman of the Year Awards in 2011, and a pair of Manolo Blahnik heels.

While she found it difficult to part with many of the items, she reportedly found the experience cathartic.  “I know I shouldn’t have pieces I don’t wear and so then it’s time to let go of that certain item,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “They deserve to be worn, so I hope that they all go to good homes that will give them a new exciting life.”  Speaking to Vogue, she said, “Sometimes it’s really good to close one door and open another. You need to have new chapters in your life.”

The 27 pieces from Yasmin Le Bon’s archive will go on sale on Thursday, July 19th on Vestiaire Collective with prices ranging from £175 – £1,200 (approx. US $250 – $1,600).

Chanel’s Little Black Jacket private view

Last week, Yasmin attended the private viewing party for The Little Black Jacket, an exhibition held at London’s Saatchi Gallery featuring over 100 photographs that show off the versatility and timelessness of the classic Chanel black jacket.  While many guests chose to wear Chanel to the event, Yasmin went against the grain with her vibrant, attention-getting dress from Christopher Kane’s fall collection that made her stand out from the crowd.

She spoke of the power of the wardrobe staple in an interview with British Harper’s Bazaar: “I suppose it’s a kind of armour in a way.  When you put a jacket on that’s well-fitted and well-made, you just feel like you can tackle anything I think.”

Yasmin has been a favourite model of Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld for many years, from 1985 when she was the face of Lagerfeld’s autumn/winter collection to today – she most recently appeared in the Chanel Métiers d’Art pre-fall 2012 show.

The Little Black Jacket exhibition will be open to the public at the Saatchi Gallery until November 4th, and the companion book will be out this autumn.
