Stella 17 March 2019

Yasmin was featured in this past weekend’s Stella magazine, a supplement to the Telegraph. Inside, she displays her stunning beauty and irreverent, witty, filterless remarks.

The older you get, the more you need to hold on to your rock’n’roll. I like [to shop for] labels that design for people like me – characters who just never want to grow up. I would be a rock chick for ever. I wear more miniskirts now than I did in my 20s and 30s. I’m sure people say things behind my back, but what I don’t hear or see doesn’t hurt me.

I don’t go on social media, really. You have to be so careful not to spend your time comparing and despairing. It’s so easy to do, no matter how good of a place you’re in. I just think if I don’t see all those people, then I feel like I’m in a happy, positive place, and consequently I feel quite differently about myself.

I’m lucky if I do two dry days. It’s nice to take care of yourself and it’s good for my liver to have a rest sometimes, because it does work hard. I love you, liver. But I can’t really stick to anything. Life’s too short.

Red magazine March 2018

In honor of its 20th anniversary this year, Red magazine has selected Yasmin to grace the cover of its March 2018 issue.  While she did was not on their first cover (she was on a mini-preview issue that came out in January 1998), this marks Yasmin’s 14th appearance on the cover of Red magazine (and in many, many more editorials).

Never one to spare her thoughts, she shares her 20 top tidbits of what the past 20 years have taught her.  Some favorites:

“Age-appropriate dressing is rubbish. Dress in a way that makes you feel good. I’m reliving my youth with short skirts and bodycon outfits – actually, what is youth but a state of mind?”

” Put yourself first, because no one else will.”

“Everything in life has consequences. Before you send that email, sleep on it. If it still sounds right in the morning, then send it. I think we’ve all been there.”

“One needs the darkness to recognise the light.”

“People have told me, ‘You can’t be their mother and their best friend.’ Well, you can. I’m not saying it’s easy. It is about timing, patience, closeness and honesty. I am more determined about this than anything else in life. My girls are my best friends, they have my back and I have theirs.”

“At the end of the day, we are all on our own. Only we can pick ourselves up. Only we can count on ourselves. Only we have the key to happiness.”

“In marriage – in any relationship – do not leave things unsaid. Life is too short.”

“The menopause is a bit s***, actually. You ache all over, you’re tired and fractious and you develop an extra layer of padding all over. You can’t remember to make that appointment to see the damn endocrinologist. You can’t remember where you parked the car. It’s important that you tell people this.”

“Make time for hobbies. It’s time spent doing just what you want, purely for you. When was the last time you did that? Yeah, right… like never. I’m working on that, too.”

Now in its third year, the event has gathered some of the greatest names of art and fashion to help raise funds to fight coronary heart disease.  Past pieces have been offered for auction by Sir Peter Blake, Damien Hirst, Dan Baldwin, and Jim Dine as well as brands including Cartier, Mulberry, Claridge’s, Diane von Furstenberg, Chanel, and Hermès.

This year’s associate sponsor is Thomas Sabo, who has created a unique gold and diamond pendant titled “Open Your Heart” (worn by Yasmin in the 4th image below) that will be auctioned off.  Also up for auction will be the one-off Michael Kors dress that Yasmin wears in these images.

Tunnel of Love will take place at the prestigious One Mayfair on 12th November 2013, and tickets are currently on sale for £3,500 per table of ten.

Find out more about the event, discover how to become a sponsor, or book your tickets at the British Heart Foundation’s website.
