Italian Marie Claire has selected 4 supermodels to be featured on the covers of their March 2019 issue as part of their “Generazione top” whom they celebrate as having marked the past four decades of fashion and of our lives.
In her 50s, Yasmin is described as a “madre e nonna che vive senza nostalgia,” who finds that the most drastic change she has experienced in over 30 years in the public eye is the loss of anonymity. “Social networks have given the chance to be more creative and open to the world, if you want to. The problem is understanding when it’s time to turn off, to click the ‘off’ button. Today it seems obligatory to have to spread one’s private life.” Yasmin is a fairly recent addition to Instagram but is wary over the frequent obsession with the numbers of one’s followers and the pressures of today’s world to comment on everything, no matter how minor. “For me the important thing is who follows you, not how many people follow you. It’s an empty world, it’s not mine.”
